This subsidiary of Lufthansa group has already integrated with multifarious technology to enhance the technology such as: inspection of wind turbines, photo-voltaic panels, power lines, roads, railways and pipelines.
Lufthansa Inspect the Aircraft Before Flying by Using Drones
We have already heard about the Easyjet, it already using drone to inspect their aircraft during services with the help of drone. Now, Lufthansa is also in the queue. It consolidates its hardware and software to manage the whole operation of technology or carry out data analysis.
Lufthansa Airline Service now used DJI equipments for a pilot project to check the wind turbine blades. The drones get around the usual method of rope access, which is time consuming and dangerous too. This group also tried drones for aircraft inspection and airport inspection.
Lufthansa Airline Service also plans to routine inspection of its infrastructure, by using DJI Drones such as Dji Phantom Drones and Inspire 1, which are equipped with thermal-imaging systems. The task previously required manual inspection by using a steeplejack, but now, drone gather all the data that later use for analysis.
Lufthansa and DJI- “Perfect Partners”
DJI' European Marketing Director, Martin Brandenburg said that, “Lufthansa is a perfect partner for DJI joint market development of commercial UAV applications”. He also said that, “The feedback from Lufthansa's clients is of great value for the further development of our products”.
On the other hand, the programming director of LAS's Christian Hartmann, said that, “The market potential of commercial drone applications is growing inexorably thanks to the continuously regulatory situation and speed of technological progress in the market and innovation that DJI as the global leader has initiated”.
Although, commercial drones are easily available, many of Lufthansa Aerial Service's key clients and manufactures choose not to operate them by themselves, because it is not their core business. Clients usually prefer to outsource due to the technical complexity, knowledge of regulatory framework and issues related to safety.
This year Lufthansa offers their clients a one-stop solution UAV shop. Here you can find everything from application consulting and drone operation to training and certification drone pilots in Lufthansa Flight Training.
