DJI is very famous among hobbyist or professional photographers for their Phantom line of series. DJI always amaze their fans with their latest invention, Phantom 1, 2 and 3 series have progressively developed over the year with such astonishing features. Every time when DJI launched its new series, no one is not sure what this next one will entail.
DJI generally launched its new series in late summer or early fall, so if it sticks to the same pattern then DJI may release its new version of Phantom “4” very soon. It may also be possible that it will release a half-version like Phantom 3.5 or 3+ like they did with the earlier version of Phantom 2 vision plus. DJI fans are eagerly waiting for their latest release and expecting some brand new features.
DJI Phantom Wish List that People Expect
DJI Phantom 4 gossip train is running full stream in the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) community. And DJI wanted to know from their customers what changes they hope to see next version, and what modification they expect this year. Pilots of P2 and P3 give their list of what they want on their next Phantom version.
Obstacle Avoidance
After asking about numerous pilots of DJI Phantom 2 and Phantom 3, the most common feature that they want from its new version is- obstacle and crash avoidance system. This is something similar to the DJI Matrice 100. Ideally, the Matrice 100 would use sonar or laser sensors which would look for things like trees, power lines, buildings, wires, etc.
If DJI is planning on adding more sensors for obstacle avoidance, enhancing battery life and visual targeting tracking. All this would need some extra cost. So if you are expecting these modified features you have to ready to pay accordingly.
Long Battery Life/Flight Time
One thing that everyone wishes for his/her drone, it's more flight time. Lipo battery is one of the biggest challenges for UAV world. Flight time generally ranges from 15-22 minutes with most of the batteries. But if new DJI Phantom 4 come equipped with latest upgraded battery, then longer battery life will definitely create a difference.
Follow Me Feature
Last year DJI has launched an astounding feature in P3 series “Follow Me”. But, operators want to make it more advance that they will able to use this feature without actual controller. They want that DJI will offer some sort of external device to control it like a water-resistant wristband, small remote control or even have a signal transmitted via SmartPhone. 5
New Landing Gear
Pilots are praying for new landing gear, this could be shorter legs or a retractable gear. Something like DJI Inspire series, which allows a camera to give a 360-degree view.
Optical Zoom
Optical Zoom is the most demanding feature by Photographer or videographer. They want a zoom function on their footage during flight time. If DJI will fulfil this wish of their customers, then every camera-happy person would feel proud to have this new Phantom 4 with 4K capability.
Regardless of any rumors, wish lists, expectations we know that the Phantom 4 will be better in all respect from their previous versions.
